RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — The company building a waste treatment plant at the Hanford nuclear reservation plans to cut another 200 to 300 positions by the end of the year.
The Tri-City Herald reported Tuesday that Bechtel National Inc. will begin sending out a new round of layoff notices later this month for non-construction workers.
Bechtel spokeswoman Suzanne Heaston says the positions provide technical, construction and other support to the project. A job fair will be held in May to showcase job opportunities at other Bechtel projects around the world.
About 550 constructions workers on the project have been laid off in the past five months.
