CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — The executive director of the Linn-Benton Housing Authority is wanted in Delaware on an accusation she abandoned a son who had been adopted from that state.

The Corvallis Gazette-Times (http://bit.ly/ItM5HU) reports that Cleo Klepzig faces a misdemeanor charge of child abandonment. The warrant was issued in 2007 and remains in effect.

Klepzig says she returned the special-needs child to an office of the Family Services Division because he had been abusing a sibling.

A spokesman for the Family Services Division in Delaware says there is no process for dissolving an adoption.

The housing authority hired Klepzig in September 2010. In a statement, the authority board says it did a background check before hiring Klepzig and no issues were raised. The board plans an internal investigation.
