NEW YORK (AP) — The Mets say David Wright has been cleared to play by a hand specialist who examined the third baseman’s broken right pinkie.

Wright sat out games on Tuesday and Wednesday after learning he broke his finger diving back to a base Monday night.

He was examined by a hand specialist for the second straight day Thursday. The Mets said in a statement the team’s No. 3 hitter was cleared to resume baseball activities “as tolerated.”

Wright’s status for the opener of a series in Philadelphia will be determined before the game Friday.

The Mets were 4-0 before Wright sat out two straight losses. He is hitting .583 (7 for 12) with a homer and four RBIs.
