PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a 71-year-old man from Oregon was arrested after police at the Palm Springs International Airport found a loaded gun in his briefcase.

Police Sgt. Mike Kovaleff said Thursday that Transportation Security Administration officers saw the gun during a preflight screening of Andrew Sadowski of Salem on Tuesday.

Kovaleff says police searched Sadowski’s briefcase, found a .380-caliber handgun and arrested him without incident.

Police say there is no evidence of any intent of terrorism.

Sadowski was booked at a Riverside County jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a handgun in a secure area and released after posting $5,000 bail.

His scheduled arraignment Thursday was postponed.

A woman who answered the phone at a Salem number listed in Sadowski’s name said he was not available.
