ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Central Florida will appear before the NCAA’s Committee on Infractions hoping it will accept self-imposed sanctions the university has implemented in response to allegations that the Knights’ football and basketball programs were involved with runners for sports agents, and cash payments and gifts to recruits.
The hearing is Friday in Indianapolis. UCF’s proposed penalties include probation, vacation of men’s basketball victories, and reduction of scholarships.
Former athletics director Keith Tribble and assistant football coach David Kelly resigned as result of the NCAA’s investigation and UCF basketball coach Donnie Jones served a three-game suspension last season.
Todd Stansbury was hired to replace Tribble in January and has pledged to change the culture of compliance.
UCF could face even stiffer penalties from the NCAA if labeled as a repeat rules violator.
