The Record-Courier names publisher in Gardnerville

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) — A veteran newspaper executive has been named publisher of The Record-Courier in Gardnerville.

Pat Bridges takes the reins at the newspaper April 23, and also will serve as advertising director for The Record-Courier’s sister paper in Carson City, the Nevada Appeal.

His appointment was announced by both Swift Communications newspapers Friday.

The 56-year-old Bridges is coming from Roseburg, Ore., where he has been advertising director of The News-Review.

Bridges began his career in 1980 as a sales representative for the Tampa (Fla.) Tribune.

Before Roseburg, he held executive positions in Redding, Calif., Evansville, Ind., and at the Anchorage Daily News.

Bridges was charter president and co-founder of the Florida Newspaper Co-op Association.

A graduate of the University of Florida, he and his wife, Barby, have a 16-year-old son, Sean.
