BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Officials investigating a deadly Bellingham marina fire still don’t know where or how the March 30 blaze started but say a dozen boats were destroyed.
The Bellingham Herald reports (http://bit.ly/HLKU73 ) that four of the boats have been pulled from the water and will be examined.
Police spokesman Mark Young says private insurance investigators are helping fire officials and police determine the cause of the fire at Squalicum Harbor.
The fire killed 33-year-old Sterling Taylor and 43-year-old James Langei, who were aboard their boat when the fire broke out. Their bodies were recovered in sunken debris about a week after the fire. Autopsies determined they died of smoke inhalation.
