Church offers grant for nonprofit organizations

Clark County — The Crossing, a United Methodist Church, plans to grant $3,000 to a local non-profit organization that’s working to “make the world more just, humane, kind, peaceful and compassionate,” says a statement from the church.

“Rather than addressing the symptoms of social ills, we want to bestow this gift to a group that is seeking to change the causes of those ills. For example, we would be interested in giving this money to an organization which is eliminating the causes of hunger, rather than to one that feeds hungry people.”

Applicants must be non-profit organizations or corporations registered with the state of Washington and based in Clark County. Requirements include a two-page essay describing “who you are, what you do, how long you have operated and what you have achieved or plan to achieve,” last year’s financial statement and two references.

“Optimal references might include someone who has been affected by the organization or has done volunteer work with or for the organization.”

Mailing deadline is April 29. Submit materials to Pastor Andy Oliver, 19215 S.E. 34th St., Suite 106-197, Camas WA 98607. You may be contacted for an interview. Funds will be disbursed by May 27.
