Letter: Scrutinize benefits payouts

The Columbian
Published: April 14, 2012, 5:00pm

I am offended by Sen. Joe Zarelli’s sense of entitlement. How he can say that the disability payments he receives are far different than the benefits provided in the state programs that are targeted for cuts? I do agree that we should not enable drug and alcohol addicted people, but we should not enable people such as Zarelli, who might not need disability payments either.

There are too many people in both groups taking advantage of these benefits at the taxpayers’ expense.
