PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A company that operates Burger King restaurants in the Portland area has settled a sexual harassment lawsuit.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed the lawsuit on behalf of a 17-year-old female worker who was pursued by a married supervisor at a Burger King in Sandy. It alleged the supervisor discussed the worker’s virginity, asked how much she would charge for sex and followed her into the parking lot on breaks.
The commission says that the woman’s complaints to management were ignored and she ultimately quit.
It says Kaizen Restaurants has agreed to pay the woman $150,000 and take steps to prevent a similar situation from happening again.
According to company information, Beaverton-based Kaizen operates more than two dozen Burger King restaurants and has about 1,000 employees.
