One man was arrested over the weekend after police surrounded a Camas home, but the person they were actually looking for remains at large.

On Friday at approximately 8:30 p.m., Camas Police responded to a complaint of a wanted person at 4245 N.W. 12th Ave. Officers were trying to apprehend 22-year-old Husam Z. Al-Ani on an outstanding felony warrant pertaining to weapon and drug charges.

According to a Camas Police Department press release, with the assistance of Washougal Police, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Vancouver Police and Clark County Regional S.W.A.T., attempts were made to take Al-Ani into custody.

During the course of the investigation, 24-year-old Curtis D. Schmit was arrested on an unrelated misdemeanor warrant.

Al-Ani was not apprehended, and the case is still under investigation.

During the incident, several neighboring residents were evacuated from their homes.
