PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Timbers have acquired Columbian forward Sebastian Rincon on loan from Uruguay’s first-division Club Atletico Atenas.

Rincon has been training with the Timbers since February. The 18-year-old can join the roster once he receives his International Transfer Certificate.

Rincon played youth club soccer in the United States and in the youth system of Colombian side Deportivo Cali. He started his professional career with Columbia’s Independiente Santa Fe in 2010 when he was 16.

Rincon is the son of former Colombian national team midfielder Freddy Rincon.
