MANCHESTER, Wash. (AP) — Bainbridge Island police have rescued two men whose canoe capsized in Puget Sound.

Police found the unidentified men hypothermic and lethargic Wednesday evening but were able to pull them aboard a police boat.

The Kitsap Sun reports (http://is.gd/PRoDAC ) that the men were drifting between Manchester and Blake Island.

Once on shore, the men were wrapped in blankets and given intravenous fluids to warm them, then taken to a Bremerton hospital.

South Kitsap fire Bbattalion Chief Guy Dalryrmple says survival time in the cold water is not long. He says the men were not dressed properly for the cold temperatures but were saved by their life jackets.

Manchester is west of Seattle across Puget Sound.
