US women’s soccer to play Sweden, Japan in June

CHICAGO (AP) — The U.S. women’s soccer team will play in the Swedish Invitational in June, facing the hosts and Japan.

The U.S. Soccer Federation said Wednesday the Americans will play Sweden on June 16 and Japan two days later, with both games at Halmstad. Sweden and Japan meet June 20 at Goteborg.

U.S. coach Pia Sundhage is from Sweden.

The Americans are preparing to defend their Olympic gold medal at the London Games.
