DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) — The Bangladesh Cricket Board postponed a two-match tour of Pakistan next week after the Bangladesh High Court ordered it be delayed for a month because of security concerns.
The BCB conveyed the decision to its Pakistan counterpart after the court order on Thursday, dealing a fresh blow to hopes of reviving international cricket in the troubled nation.
A Dhaka university teacher, Khandaker Didarus Salam, petitioned the court to cancel the tour on security grounds. The court said it will review the situation in a month.
Pakistan hasn’t hosted a test-playing team since gunmen attacked the Sri Lanka cricket team in Lahore in March 2009, killing six police officials and wounding several members of the team.
