SAO PAULO (AP) — FIFA President Sepp Blatter has visited predecessor Joao Havelange, who has been hospitalized for more than a month in a Rio de Janeiro hospital.
Blatter tweeted on Saturday that he was on a private trip with his daughter.
“It was great to see Joao Havelange today and hope we could cheer him up with football energy,” Blatter said on Twitter.
Doctors at Hospital Samaritano said in their latest statement that the right ankle infection that caused the hospitalization of the 95-year-old Havelange was under control, and he was still receiving medication to control blood pressure and heart function.
Havelange ran FIFA from 1974-98.
