SALEM, Ore. (AP) — Tuesday is the deadline for voters to register in time to cast a ballot in next month’s primary, but Oregon’s online voter registration website hasn’t been working.
The secretary of state’s office says experts are working on fixing the problem. Spokeswoman Andrea Cantu-Schomus says the agency’s computer network has had problems connecting to a database of driver license records at the Department of Transportation.
She says voters can still register by downloading and printing a paper registration form, but the form must be postmarked by Tuesday. Other services like changes to addresses or party registration are still available.
Cantu-Schomus says the problem is not related to extra website traffic from voters trying to beat Tuesday’s deadline.
Voters have until midnight to fill out the online form if service is restored Tuesday.
