PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland school board voted Monday night to close two schools: Humboldt Elementary and the all-girls Harriet Tubman Leadership Academy.

Both schools will close with the end of classes in June.

KGW reports (http://is.gd/HdhZVw ) budget cuts forced the decision, and the district also may have to lay off 110 teachers and 30 positions in the central office.

KATU reports (http://is.gd/UaiZVJ ) the board also voted to sell the vacant Washington High School building for $2 million. A developer plans to turn the school into apartments.
