INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing says Michel Jourdain Jr. will return to the team for the Indianapolis 500.

The team announced the move Tuesday. Jourdain, who is from Mexico City, has competed in only one Indy 500, in 1996, when he finished 13th.

The team had announced in March that Italian driver Luca Filippi would be with the team for the Indy 500 in what would be his first season in an American-based racing series.

Team co-owner Bobby Rahal is returning to the IndyCar Series this season for the first time since 2008. He’d hoped to field two full-time entries, but agreed to let Honda give the engine earmarked for him to Sarah Fisher’s race team.

Jourdain won races in Montreal and Milwaukee in 2003 with Rahal.
