Pasco man, 19, sentenced for shooting at officer

PASCO, Wash. (AP) — A 19-year-old man wounded in a shootout with a Pasco police officer was sentenced Tuesday to almost 16 years in prison.

The Pasco man, Ezequiel Chavez, pleaded guilty to assault and gun possession charges in a deal with Franklin County prosecutors who dropped a charge of possessing a stolen gun.

The Tri-City Herald reports (http://is.gd/LA7KHW) Chavez was hit twice and the officer was not hurt in the September shootout. Officer Chad Pettijohn was cleared in a shooting investigation.
