SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Chargers have traded up in the third round to select LSU strong safety Brandon Taylor, continuing an emphasis on defense in the NFL draft.
The Chargers picked the former Tigers captain with the 73rd pick overall. The Bolts sent the 78th pick and their sixth-round pick to Miami.
Taylor has a chance to come in and become the starter.
Earlier in the draft, the Chargers picked outside linebacker Melvin Ingram of South Carolina in the first round and defensive end Kendall Reyes of Connecticut in the second round.
