Letter: Demand equality for women

The Columbian
Published: April 26, 2012, 5:00pm

For centuries, women have been put down by the chauvinist males of the world. Over time, women have been able to rise above the torments of the male chauvinist and religious leaders to become equals or in some cases better than their male counterparts. Women have become property owners, leaders, doctors and many other professionals with the right to vote, besides being the mothers and wives that give love and care to their families.

Now, in today’s world, women are again being subjected to the rule of chauvinist males and religions. All the hoopla over the use of pills and contraceptives for birth control or other medical reasons has become fodder for the male chauvinist to again put women back into the Dark Ages.

It is my hope that all women, and any man who has respect for women, will vote out of office those chauvinist politicians who have a desire to return women to the Dark Ages, no matter what your political standing or religious beliefs are.
