MILWAUKEE (AP) — Marquette has granted sophomore forward Jamail Jones a release from the basketball team.

Coach Buzz Williams said Friday that Jones plans to transfer to another program.

Jones averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in 46 career appearances in two seasons with the Golden Eagles. His lone start came last season at West Virginia.

Marquette signed the 6-foot-6 Atlanta native in 2009 from Green Forest Christian Academy in Decatur, Ga.
