NEW YORK (AP) — Her name means sweet, but this girl is tough.

Nine-year-old Dulce Cabrera took a stray bullet to the foot Thursday night after getting caught in the crossfire of a gunfight near her New York City home.

But the second-grader tells the New York Daily News (http://nydn.us/IrK96D ) she didn’t shed a tear.

She says, “I didn’t cry for nothing.”

Dulce told the newspaper Friday that she didn’t even feel the wound at first, but then saw her sock filling with blood.

Somehow, the bullet passed through without hitting any bones. Her father, Jose, says they are all lucky to be alive.

The family was walking home from church when the gunfire started.
