WASHINGTON (AP) — Andy Pettitte has taken the stand in the Roger Clemens perjury trial, where Pettitte is expected to testify against his former teammate.
Pettitte, who is mounting a comeback with the New York Yankees, arrived at the federal courthouse on Tuesday. The prosecution has begun its questioning of Pettitte, one of the government’s key witnesses, with general questions about Pettitte’s career.
Pettitte is expected to testify that Clemens told him he had used human growth hormone. Clemens has said that Pettitte “misremembers” the conversation. The two were close friends.
Clemens is accused of lying to Congress when he denied in a 2008 deposition and hearing that he had used steroids or HGH.
