ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have optioned left-hander Martin Perez to Triple-A Round Rock to make room on the roster for newly acquired pitcher Ryan Dempster.

The team announced the move Wednesday. Perez was 1-1 with a 4.05 ERA in six games for the Rangers this season, including three starts.

Dempster was obtained Tuesday in a trade with the Chicago Cubs. He is scheduled to make his Rangers debut Thursday night against the Los Angeles Angels.
