An Estacada, Ore. man was cited for DUI after a pickup crashed off the L1400 Road in the Yacolt Burn State Forest area Wednesday night.

Matthew Sullivan, 21, driver of the truck, was cited on suspicion of DUI after the crash, said Sgt. Fred Neiman, sheriff’s spokesman.

Here’s what happened: Clark County Fire District 3, American Medical Response and the Clark County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at 7:30 p.m. to the L1400 Road about one mile east of Northeast Rawson Road.

The truck left the road and struck trees, said Fire District 3 Battalion Chief Dave O’Brien. He said speed was a factor.

A canopy on top of the truck was destroyed and possessions in the bed were strewn about.

Sullivan and his passenger, whose name was not available Thursday, were able to get out of the truck on their own before crews arrived. They were both sent to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with minor injuries after the crash.
