SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — C.C.’s Pal closed from well behind a blistering pace, took the lead with about 50 yards to go and edged Island Bound by a neck Friday in the $200,000 Honorable Miss Stakes for fillies and mares at Saratoga Race Course.
The 5-year-old mare, ridden by Junior Alvarado and trained by Rick Dutrow, ran six furlongs in 1:09.88 and paid $8.50, $4.50 and $2.80 for her third win in seven starts this season and ninth overall.
Island Bound returned $6.60 and $4.40, and Beat the Blues paid $4.40 to show.
C.C.’s Pal earned $120,000 for owner Eric Fein.
