LONDON (AP) — The stars of the U.S. basketball team come out at night to see Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings, whose matches are scheduled for 11 p.m. London time to maximize their exposure on American television.

April Ross and Jennifer Kessy are just fine with that.

Former world champions who came to the London Olympics as the No. 4 team in the world, Kessy and Ross beat Spain in three sets Thursday to remain unbeaten and advance to the knockout round of the beach volleyball tournament with a top seed.

The Americans beat Liliana Fernandez and Elsa Baquerizo 21-19, 19-21, 19-17.

Kessy says she’s happy that May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings take the spotlight. It makes it easier for the other teams to go about their jobs.
