Arizona Rattlers advance to ArenaBowl

PHOENIX (AP) — Nick Davila threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Maurice Purify with 9 seconds left and the Arizona Rattlers advanced to the ArenaBowl for the seventh time, beating the Utah Blaze 75-69 on Saturday night in the National Conference championship.

Kevin McCullough intercepted Tommy Grady’s pass in the end zone with 35 seconds to go to set up the winning drive.

Arizona will face the Philadelphia Soul on Friday night in New Orleans. The Soul beat Jacksonville 89-34 on Friday night in the American Conference title game.

Davila was 21 of 39 for 311 yards and eight touchdowns without an interception. Purify had nine catches for 142 yards and five touchdowns.

Grady was 37 of 63 for 441 yards and 10 touchdowns and also threw three interceptions. Aaron Lesue had 12 catches for 213 yards and five touchdowns, and Tysson Poots caught 19 passes for 182 yards and four scores.

Arizona, the league champion in 1994 and 1997, lost to Jacksonville last year in the ArenaBowl.
