Dynamo beat Red Bulls 2-0; win streak hits 5 games

HOUSTON (AP) — Jermaine Taylor and Calen Carr scored in the first half to lead the Dynamo to a 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on Friday night, extending Houston’s winning streak to five games.

Houston (11-5-7, 40 points) dominated play throughout in extending its unbeaten streak to eight games and taking over possession of first place in the Eastern Conference. New York (11-6-5, 38 points) lost its second straight and dropped to second in the East.

Taylor scored 75 seconds into the game, capping a flurry of shots by Houston in front of the New York goal.

Carr extended the lead to 2-0 in the 28th minute, heading a cross from Macoumba Kandji inside the near post from seven yards out on the right.
