LONDON (AP) — Hammer thrower Marina Marghieva of Moldova is out of the Olympics for doping.
The Moldovan Olympic Committee says it tossed her off the team after track and field’s governing body said she failed a drug test.
The Olympic body says the 26-year-old Marghieva’s backup sample will be tested to confirm a doping violation. The substance was not identified.
Marghieva was to have competed in a qualifying round Wednesday. Her 24-year-old sister, Zalina, also is entered in the hammer event. They are coached by their father, Soslan Marghiev.
