PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh football coach Paul Chryst isn’t big on gimmicks or catchphrases.
When it comes down to it, Chryst says the key to building a winning program is the same as its been for decades. He believes the Panthers need to run the ball, play some defense and have a sense of ownership to thrive.
Pitt begins training camp on Monday with its third different head coach in as many seasons. Chryst replaced Todd Graham in January when Graham bolted for Arizona State after less than a year on the job.
Chryst helped turn Wisconsin into a Big Ten juggernaut as the team’s offensive coordinator. He’ll still be heavily involved in the playcalling in Pittsburgh but is enjoying the opportunity to oversee an entire program for the first time.
