China leads 3-meter diving after semifinals

LONDON (AP) — He Chong got China back on track in its pursuit of an Olympic gold-medal diving sweep, taking the lead in the men’s 3-meter springboard semifinals.

He totaled 510.15 points during the six rounds Tuesday after starting the semifinals in second place behind Ilya Zakharov of Russia.

Zakharov fell to ninth midway through the round before rallying to finish second at 505.60.

He’s teammate, Qin Kai, finished third at 500.35. Yahel Castillo of Mexico was fourth and Troy Dumais of the U.S. was fifth.
