CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Indians have recalled right-hander Frank Herrmann from Triple-A Columbus and designated infielder Jose Lopez for assignment.

Herrmann was 2-2 with seven saves and a 4.28 ERA in 39 relief appearances for Columbus. He has spent parts of the last two seasons with the Indians, going 4-1 with a 4.63 ERA in 80 appearances.

Lopez, who was designated for assignment earlier in the season, hit .249 with four homers and 28 RBIs in 66 games.

Lopez became the third veteran player cut by the slumping Indians, who entered Tuesday with a 10-game losing streak. Pitcher Derek Lowe and outfielder Johnny Damon were designated for assignment last week.
