Masters champion Bubba Watson ready for more

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Bubba Watson has texted with Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps and joked with Mets ace Johann Santana. Now, the Masters champion is ready to win another major title.

Watson says the glow from his win at Augusta National last April is starting to fade as he enters the season’s final major at the PGA Championship. He’s focused on breaking through again this week at the Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Watson’s played just 20 competitive rounds since winning the green jacket in a playoff. His best showing the last four months was a tie for second at The Travelers in June. Watson’s got a good excuse, though, as he finished the adoption process for son Caleb on Monday.

“Somehow it all worked out and now we’re parents,” he said.
