CHELAN — A wildfire that burned about 10 square miles north of Chelan is nearly under control

Fire managers say crews completed the last piece of a fire break Tuesday night and they’re confident it will not escape containment.

A get-ready-to-evacuate warning for residents of about 50 homes in the Alta Lake area was lifted at noon Wednesday. The state is ending management of the fire and releasing its firefighters. Alta Lake State Park is expected to reopen Thursday.

More than 300 firefighters have been building lines since the fire broke out Sunday in grass, brush and light timber. No structures burned.
