LONDON (AP) — Not so fast, Usain Bolt. You’re not a legend yet.

That’s the verdict of International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge. He says the Jamaican sprinter needs to prove his legendary status over more than two Olympics.

Rogge spoke a few hours before Bolt completed an unprecedented sprint sweep Thursday. He became the first athlete to win the 100 and 200 meters at consecutive Olympics.

Rogge says Bolt’s status should be judged at the end of his career. He notes that Carl Lewis won medals in four straight Olympics.

Rogge says of Bolt: “Let him participate in three, four games, and he can be a legend. Already he’s an icon.”
