TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Alabama coach Nick Saban says cornerback Travell Dixon is leaving the team for personal reasons.

Saban said Friday that “we understand the situation and we wish him the best of luck in the future.” Dixon is a junior college transfer from Miami who enrolled at Alabama in January and went through spring practice.

He was expected to contend for a spot in the secondary rotation. The Crimson Tide must replace three defensive backs who were selected in the NFL draft, including cornerbacks DeQuan Menzie and first-rounder Dre Kirkpatrick.

Dixon was considered one of the nation’s top junior college prospects out of Eastern Arizona Community College.

The Tide also signed JUCO cornerback Deion Belue and top prep defensive back prospects Landon Collins and Geno Smith.
