STOCKHOLM (AP) — Former Rangers midfielder Alejandro Bedoya is returning to Swedish soccer after signing a short-term contract with champion Helsingborg.
The club said in a statement that the 25-year-old American will train with the squad on Sunday.
With Rangers placed under bankruptcy protection and playing in the fourth tier of Scottish soccer, Helsingborg called the deal a “win-win” situation.
Helsingborg Sports Director Jesper Jansson called Bedoya “a player type we need.”
Bedoya previously spent two and a half years in Sweden with Orebro SK before joining Rangers in 2011.
The Swedish season started in late March.
