NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — When last season began, coach Bob Stoops declared it was about time for his Sooners to win another national championship.

When it ended, the Sooners didn’t even have bragging rights in their own state, having lost the Bedlam rivalry game in a 44-10 blowout to Oklahoma State.

Heading into the 2012 season, Oklahoma is loaded again with talent and preseason expectations. But Oklahoma State has been gaining ground in recent years, finally breaking through last season with its first Big 12 title and BCS bowl game appearance before finishing with the No. 3 ranking.
