A 30-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday after allegedly stabbing her live-in boyfriend in their Washougal home.

Police responded to the 200 block of Eighth Street in Washougal just after 2 a.m. when a man called 911 to report he had been stabbed by his girlfriend, said Sgt. Geoff Reijonen with the Washougal Police Department.

Police responded and found the man with a wound in his chest area. He was allegedly stabbed with a knife or nail, Reijonen said.

The injury didn’t appear to be life-threatening.

Promise Smith, 30, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree domestic violence assault. She was booked into the Clark County Jail early Tuesday and is expected to make a first court appearance Wednesday.

The case is under investigation.
