A Vancouver woman was killed Wednesday evening when her Dodge Durango left the road and hit a tree in a field off Northeast 76th Street near Interstate 205, according to Vancouver Fire Department spokesman Scott Willis.

Claudette Watkins, 67, was driving east on 76th Street and died on impact, according to a sheriff’s office bulletin. The property owner heard the crash around 5:30 p.m. and called 911 after finding the SUV in a field, Willis said.

When firefighters arrived at 8605 N.E. 76th St., they found Watkins dead in the vehicle with no passengers.

The cause of the crash is unknown.
