Baffert’s Lady Ten wins Sandy Blue ‘Cap at Del Mar

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Bob Baffert-trained Lady Ten won a five-horse blanket finish by a neck Friday in the $85,000 Sandy Blue Handicap for 3-year-old fillies at Del Mar.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Lady Ten sat second for most of the race and was third coming out of the final turn before rallying to catch Graser. The winner ran a mile on the turf course in 1:34.05, and paid $9.40, $4.40 and $3.20 for her third victory in nine career starts. A daughter of Rock Hard Ten owned and bred by Mercedes Stable, she has earned $171,344.

Baffert has won five stakes at the Del Mar meet, all with Bejarano in the saddle.

Graser returned $5.80 and $4, and Cozze Up Lady paid $4.40 to show.
