GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Graham Harrell struggled in the Green Bay Packers’ preseason loss to the Cleveland Browns, leading to questions about whether he’s ready to become the primary backup to Aaron Rodgers.

The former Texas Tech star completed 12 of 24 passes for 100 yards with two interceptions Thursday night. He also was called for intentional grounding in the end zone for a safety.

Harrell wasn’t happy with the performance but says, “It’s not like I’ll ever lose confidence in myself.”

Packers general manager Ted Thompson passed on the chance to pick up a veteran backup after Matt Flynn signed with Seattle, a sign the team felt comfortable that Harrell could make the leap from No. 3 to No. 2.
