NEW YORK (AP) — Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is out of the starting lineup against the Boston Red Sox for the second straight day because of a sore left wrist.
Before missing the Yankees’ 6-4 win in Friday’s series opener, Teixeira thought he would need a day or two off.
Teixeira hurt his wrist while batting against Boston July 29, then had a cortisone injection two days later. He returned to the lineup Aug. 3 and played 14 consecutive days, hitting .259 with three homers and seven RBIs. That left him at .257 with 23 home runs and 78 RBIs for the season.
