Reiley Henderson, one of the top wide receivers in the state, has been dismissed from the Skyview football team for a violation of an unspecified school and team rule, according to his father.
“As a family, we’re tremendously disappointed. We realize that sometimes in life you gotta fall down to get back up and get on the right path,” Ronny Henderson said Sunday. “Our No. 1 focus is Reiley the person, not Reiley the athlete. We’re confident that through the appropriate level of guidance that he’ll bounce back and be better and stronger for it.”
Reiley Henderson is a two-time Columbian All-Region wide receiver. He put himself in the headlines with an outstanding sophomore campaign that included the touchdown to seal the victory in the first Skyview-Union game for the Class 4A Greater St. Helens League title in 2010. Last year, he helped the Storm reach the Class 4A state title game.
He was listed on The (Tacoma) News Tribune’s preseason all-state team until word came out that he was dismissed from the program. Mason Kelley of ESPN.com’s RecruitingNation reported in a tweet on Saturday morning that Henderson was no longer with the team. Henderson was at practice Wednesday and Thursday when The Columbian visited the campus.
