ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — A stellar second half in a preseason game isn’t changing Kirk Cousins’ perspective.

The Washington Redskins’ other rookie quarterback says these games in August are his “Super Bowl” because he knows he’ll likely be playing behind Robert Griffin III for the next few years.

Fourth-round pick Cousins went 18 for 23 for 264 yards with three touchdowns in the second half of Saturday’s game against Chicago.

Regardless, the former Michigan State standout said Monday: “This is Robert’s team. … The coaches have made that very clear, and it’s my job to do the best I can in my situation and with my opportunities, and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

The Redskins host Indianapolis on Saturday.
