SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — Last year’s 2-year-old champion Hansen has been declared out of the $1 million Travers Stakes because of an inflammation in his left front leg.

The colt’s trainer, Mike Maker, said Wednesday before the Travers draw for post positions that the inflammation was discovered in the morning.

The near-white Hansen won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile last year and won the Gotham Stakes and Iowa Derby in 2012. The horse owned by Kendall Hansen finished 10th in the Kentucky Derby and ran fourth in the West Virginia Derby in his most recent race Aug. 4.
