Maplewood — The new Maplewood Neighborhood Association honored chairwoman Cynthia Powers with the Vancouver Sparkles Award at its National Night Out event on Aug. 7 at MyPark.

In her letter nominating Powers, neighbor Robin Steeley wrote that Powers is, “active in bringing the neighbors together to work on solving problems. She saw the need to address issues unique to the area and worked with the city to form the new neighborhood association. She was instrumental in getting MyPark developed, and has been its biggest cheerleader.”
